ComProtect Barrier Bench · Energy-Absorbing Vehicle Protection

Protect the Structure. Not Just Stop the Vehicle.

The ComProtect model approach combines controlled energy absorption with widespread distribution of remaining reaction forces – for sensitive structural elements and small installation depths.

The Concept

The restraint system must adapt to the structure.

Not the structure to the system.

Where deep foundations, waterproofing systems, underground utilities, or existing structural elements make conventional solutions difficult, ComProtect relies on a multi-stage load path. Energy is intended to be dissipated early within the system, while the remaining forces are distributed across a larger support area in a controlled manner.

From Impact to Controlled Load Transfer

01 · IMPACT

Vehicle strikes the System

The Barrier Bench absorbs the impact energy across its entire effective width.

02 · ABSORPTION

Dissipate energy in a controlled manner

Multiple deformation stages are designed to absorb energy and influence the force development in a targeted manner.

03 · DISTRIBUTION

Spread residual forces over a larger area

The remaining forces are transferred through multiple structural components and distributed across a wider footprint.

04 · STRUCTURE

Consider Structural Framework

The connection is designed project-specifically in collaboration with the structural planning.

Results of the Numerical Study

Measurable Model Behavior Instead of Generic Claims

3,5 tTarget vehicle mass
80 km/hTarget impact speed
10 mmInstallation zone in analyzed model
< 2 kJInternal deformation energy of concrete and composite layer

All values originate from numerical study SPB-017. They do not replace physical crash testing or a project-specific assessment of the foundation, composite connection, load path, and supporting structure.

Developed for Challenging Site Conditions

Combining Protection and Architecture

The barrier bench is designed as a visible architectural element rather than an add-on foreign object. The concept is particularly relevant where limited installation depth must be combined with sensitive existing structures.

Is This Concept Suitable for Your Structure?

In an initial technical consultation, we evaluate whether the installation conditions, load path, and security requirements justify further project development.
